The inquisitive nature of your pets can put them in spot of bother. Often, the pets try to be playful with the suspended electrical cords and wires. The electrical cords lying on the floor or traveling along the walls offer an easy access to the pets. Such a scenario may prove hazardous for your pets and can even lead to a loss of life.
To prevent such an accident, take certain preventive measures in advance. You may need to alter the setting of the internal wiring as well to achieve the desired results. However, there are certain techniques that may serve the required purpose without getting into the technical aspect of the electrical setup.
If you cannot keep your pets away from the electrical cords then take the electrical cords away from your pets. Conceal them in such a way that they are difficult to be accessed by the pets of your home. A quick solution to the problem is to tie the length of the cord on the upper half of the walls. Use an adhesive tape or nails to attach the cord to the walls. One can also hide the lying electrical cord behind a large-sized object or furniture. The idea of hiding the electrical cord works on the curiosity of the pets. Once the thing is out of their sight, they don’t exhibit any interest in exploring the concealed object.
One can also buy safety cables that act as a cover for the electrical cords and wires. The wrapping of such shield around the lying electrical cords makes them unsightly to the pets. Hence, the electrical cords become inaccessible to the pets and they fail to chew on the cords.
The creative homeowners can use certain commonly available products to serve the required purpose. For example, a contact paper with its sticky side on the front could be wrapped around the length of the electrical cord. On touching the sticky side of the wrapping, the pets would feel scared. Hence, they would maintain a distance from such a setting.
Besides these, certain kitchen products can also serve the required purpose. The bitter or unpleasant taste of such items forces the pets to maintain a distance from them. When such items are applied on the cords then the pets fear to take the wire in their mouths.
For example, the edible items such as pepper sauce, menthol, toothpaste, lemon juice etc. can be used to do the intended job.
Choose the one that irritates the pets in the most convincing way.
